“Bands such as This Town Needs Guns, The World is A Beautiful Place…, and American Football are all some absolutely stellar emo bands that use elements of post-rock in their sound to create something gorgeous. Now, we have a young new band on our hands that go by ANIQATIA…” – Heavy Blog Is Heavy

Aniqatia (an-uh-kay-dee-uh) was formed in the Spring of 2013 by two pairs of long-time Lehigh Valley musicians with the goal to create a distinctive sound that merged all of their varying influences. Locking the band into a specific genre is a difficult task, but Aniqatia combines post-rock, alternative, indie, and emo elements into their songs, leading to an experimental sound that is both refreshing and nostalgic at the same time.

The quartet spent the better part of a year writing their debut EP, titled “Erratics,” and recorded the effort in the outskirts of Philadelphia with renowned engineer Vince Ratti (Circa Survive, Balance & Composure, The Wonder Years). Erratics was released in June of 2014, quickly gaining recognition not just locally, but globally as well. To date, the EP has over 15,000 downloads across various channels and Aniqatia’s songs have been featured in dozens of videos across the Web.

Currently, the band is getting ready to release “Luminous,” their sophomore EP that was once again recorded and mixed by Vince Ratti. “Luminous” builds upon the foundation that was formed by “Erratics,” featuring a more progressive and cohesive sound, while still leaving room for further growth and experimentation. Aniqatia will spend the rest of 2015 playing shows to support their new release and spreading their music to as many people as possible.
